Conrad Spirit of Innovation Challenge - 2014
The Conrad Spirit of Innovation Challenge is a yearly event in which high school students compete to create an innovative product and a business plan to support it for a chance to win one of four $10,000 prizes. IPAT’s submission, VIBe, being in the top five projects in its category worldwide, was chosen to compete in the finals at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas where the team gained valuable experience and was able to make significant improvements to VIBe.
Intel International Science and Engineering Fair - 2015
Intel International Science and Engineering Fair is the world’s largest precollegiate science fair. Attracting more than seven million projects, of which only about 1500 are chosen to travel to the finals. IPAT chose to enter at the Sichuan Regional Science Fair. Winning a special award from the American Psychological Association, placing second second for team project in their category, and winning Best of Fair earned them a spot to compete as a 2015 ISEF Finalist in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The experience yielded no final awards, but leading scientists in the field of Behavioral and Social Sciences gave invaluable feedback that will help IPAT progress.
The Future
VIBe isn’t a finished product yet and there is much more to research and design before it will be ready to play a role in the autistic community. Moving forward we are looking to meet and connect with more autistic children as well as parents of autistic children. If you are in either of those categories of simply interested in learning more about us and what we do, please feel free to get in contact with us via our Connect page or scroll down to see our social media
